Ultimately, ROI is a measure of cost versus savings.  You want an installer that brings down the upfront cost as much as possible.  But you also want someone who delivers the highest savings.

In short, you want someone who is licensed, experienced, and knowledgeable.

Be wary of professional contractors who use a cookie-cutter approach to all installations.  In order to maximize the return of your investment, your panels and installation must be custom designed from the bottom up.  Every rooftop is different.  And no two clients will have the exact same energy goals.

So Which Is More Important?  Labor or Parts?

It’s ultimately a false choice.  You want both.

  • High quality parts in the hands of an amateur is like giving a Formula One racing car to someone who’s never driven.
  • Low quality parts in the hands of an expert is equally bad.  There’s only so much mileage one can get out of inferior solar components.
